Use cases

The overall principles of automatic data acquisition, analysis, and control can be applied to various application domains. Data collection is not limited to IoT sensors but can be imported from user surveys, inspections or corporate IT systems.

  • Homeowners have different apps for controlling lighting, heating, entertainment systems, lawnmowers, garden irrigation, and weather forecasts. They benefit from a single app where they can view all essential information on a single screen without having to switch between apps and having to learn and install new apps. They also may want to set up automation and monitoring that work across all these applications.

  • Building operators need real-time and historical information about space occupancy to improve the well-being of our occupants and save money on cleaning. For example, if certain areas are high in demand I want to create more of those. Also, if nobody has used the conference rooms in the last 24hr there is no need for cleaning.

  • Plant operators can visualize the performance of installations and visually locate the location of assets that need maintenance. They can also attach documents with procedures and instructions to the digital assets in the 3D model so that information is accessible by a mouse click.

  • Educators can set up a digital twin of an industrial or civil installation such as a crane or a shipping lock. New employees can be trained on how to operate these installations by simulations in the digital twin.
